Lapeer Michigan Servpro caught on camera looting poor Texas Hurricane Victims,

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — They were first flood victims and now they’re burglary victims.

“Be aware,” warned Jordan Blair just before he showed Eyewitness News video of two men rifling through drawers in the upstairs bedrooms. The men were being paid to mitigate his flood damage.

“Like what a double blow to someone’s life right now,” he said. “You just can’t trust everybody.”

After the storm, a foot and a half of water settled on the first floor of the townhome where he rents a room from homeowner Laura Quinn. Their homeowner’s association hired SERVPRO to start the cleanup.

Tuesday, while away, the two decided to check the cameras they installed in their bedrooms to monitor their pets. Instead, they say they caught a crime.

“They clearly went up there with the intent to steal,” said Blair.

There is no flood damage on the second floor.

On the video, you can see the men in the two bedrooms looking through drawers. They use their phones as flashlights.

Houston police arrested Brandon Bonesteel, 23, and Richard Edwards, 22. Burglary charges against them are pending.

SERVPRO corporate communications specialist Kim Brooks said employees have to pass a background check and that the men who were arrested are part of a storm team from Michigan. Brooks released the following statement to ABC13:

“We are very troubled by the allegation involving the employees of a SERVPRO Franchise operator. We in no way condone these actions, which run contrary to SERVPRO’s values and culture. It is our understanding the franchise operator has terminated the employment of these individuals. We will continue to investigate and follow the situation and take any other action deemed necessary or appropriate to help ensure this will not occur again in the future. The SERVPRO franchise system looks forward to continuing to assist the residents of the State of Texas in their time of need.”
