Federal and state authorities were searching Wednesday for two women who escaped a minimum-security prison earlier this week.
Anna Armstrong, 34, and Irene Mitchell, 37, walked away from the Federal Correctional Institution around 7:15 p.m. Monday, U.S. Marshals Service spokesman Frank Conroy said. Authorities released photos of the women on Wednesday.
Both were in the federal facility for low-risk women on federal narcotics charges.
Mitchell has been serving a nine-year, two-month prison sentence since May 2014. Authorities said she has a lengthy criminal record in Montana and Washington that includes theft, assault, fraud, identity theft and possession of stolen property.
She is Native American, approximately 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, authorities said. She has brown hair, brown eyes and a distinctive neck tattoo that reads “Adan.”
