Female Cop Shoots Knife-Weilding Teen Who Threw Rocks at Her.

The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting (OIS) which occurred on January 12, 2021 in the area​​ of 35th Avenue and Washington Street

This incident started when the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old, Angel Vega, threw rocks at vehicles and threatened a man with a knife at a business near 35th Avenue and Washington street.

The victim at the business called 911 and reported that Vega was armed and threatened him with a knife.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the location of the call and located Vega walking on 35th Avenue. As the officers approached Vega, they saw a knife in his hand. Officers gave repeated commands to drop the knife, which Vega ignored as he walked away from the officers. One officer deployed a taser two times, but it was not effective. Vega stopped walking backwards, and then moved quickly toward the officers. One officer discharged her firearm, striking Vega.
